Easily the most aggressive rider at the 2012 San Rafael Twilight Criterium was Alison Tetrick of Exergy TWENTY12. She was either off in a solo break attempt or chasing down the numerous break attempts by Vanderkitten-Focus riders. Tetrick was rewarded in her final solo attempt with an easy sprint win. Loren Rowney (Specialized-lululemon) finished in second. Team mate Kaitie Antonneau, crashed yet managed to cross the finish line in third.

“I had a slow start to the season,” commented Tetrick. “I am feeling pretty fit right now. I was trying to peak going into Nationals. I was a little disappointed at Nationals and decided to peak for the San Rafael Twilight Crit. It is one of my favorite races because I live in Marin. I dedicate this win to Coryn (Rivera) (EXERGY Twenty12). Coryn is very dear to me. She has taught me everything I know about racing a bike. She taught me how to win the San Rafael Twilight Crit. I was trying to follow her small footsteps that are actually hard to fill.”

“It is actually quite emotional for me to win in front of my hometown crowd, considering everything I have been through this past year. It is quite humbling to go through an injury. It feels great to come back out of it on top. I learned this past year that life is short and not to take anything for granted. I learned to be patient. It feels good and a bit overwhelming. I want to thank my team. They let me race that way and supported me.”
