The UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team’s Robert Förster (GER) took 7th place on Sunday, April 29, in Stage 8 of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey to secure his second top 10 finish in as many days and help his Team wrap up the eight stage race in Turkey with four top 10 results under its belt. Förster (who took 6th place in Stage 7 ) and Teammate Boy van Poppel (NED), secured two top 10 finishes each to combine for the Team’s four impressive results against the world-class field. Van Poppel’s 5th place in Stage 1 and 4th place in Stage 4 along with the Team winning the Team Classifications for both Stage 7 and Stage 8, helped cap off another impressive week of international racing for the second year Pro Continental outfit.

Reflecting on a solid performance in Turkey, Team Director, Hendrik Redant, stated, “We believe we performed well against this field of top class riders. This group of guys showed a lot of courage and fought through this Tour. Adrian Hegyvary (USA) got in a major break on the first day and did great work along with Philip Deignan (IRE). Boy and Robert did a great job getting us four top 10 results. And Karl Menzies (AUS), Hilton Clarke (AUS), Jake Keough (USA), and Jay Thomson (RSA) were excellent throughout the race, especially considering the fact they were battling injury or illness.”

Redant continued, “Winning the Team Classification for Stage 7 and Stage 8 shows the boys are racing well at the sport’s highest level. Being right there and competing at the end shows the boys have a constant presence and are a threat to land on the podium, especially when the race involves a bunch sprint finish. As we head back to the States, we are ready and excited about the May block of racing, especially the SRAM Tour of the Gila and the Amgen Tour of California. We’re looking forward to another good month.”
