Francisco “Paco” Mancebo (ESP) has signed a two-year contract extension with On The Rivet Management and will continue to captain the Pro Cycling Team through 2013. This news comes on the heels of Mancebo’s General Classification  win at Tour de Beauce this past weekend – his fourth GC title this season. Mancebo also sits atop the men’s individual standings in the 2011 National Racing Calendar (NRC).

“It is a terrific time for On The Rivet Management and all of the sponsors who support the Pro Cycling Team,” said Jason Kriel, managing partner of On The Rivet Management. “We are all extremely impressed with Paco’s level of professionalism and leadership. Since we started the Pro Team last winter, Paco has been very enthusiastic and wants to continue to help the team improve. A commitment from a team leader like Paco only strengthens the future growth of our program.”

Mancebo’s professional cycling career began in 1998. He’s been a familiar face in the pro peloton since, sporting Banesto, Illes Balears-Caisse d’Epargne, Ag2r Prevoyance and Rock Racing kits before joining the Pro Cycling Team in 2010. Mancebo is a stage-race specialist, with strong climbing and individual time trial performances. He has raced all three Grand Tours, including seven Tours de France. He’s finished in the top 10 five times at the Tour de France, with a fourth-place finish in 2005 and the honor of Maillot Blanc (Best Young Rider) in 2000. Other notable palmares include: two Vuelta a Espana GC podium finishes, a Tour of Utah win and a 2004 Spanish National Championship victory.

This season, as captain of the Pro Cycling Team, Mancebo has earned four GC titles: The Sea Otter Bicycle Classic, The Redlands Bicycle Classic, The SRAM Tour of the Gila, and Tour de Beauce. He leads the men’s individual NRC standings with 575 points.

“We knew that Paco was a champion, but we had no idea how this season was going to play out,” said Dustin Robertson of the Team’s title sponsor, “He’s a great fit with the Team. He’s a super positive person whose love for what he does affects everyone. This is a relationship that we want to keep and build, and we couldn’t be happier that he feels the same way.”

As of June 21, the Pro Cycling Team sits in fifth place in the NRC standings. The next stage races on the Team’s schedule are the 32nd Annual Bend Memorial Clinic Cascade Cycling Classic in Oregon (July 19-24) and the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah (August 9-14).
