The St Wendel course for the Cyclocross World Championships was open for 2 hours for an official pre-ride on Thursday afternoon. Many riders took the opportunity to go check out muddy and heavy course which is quite a contrast to the 2005 worlds. One such rider was World Champion (for 3 more days) Zdenek Stybar (Telenet-Fidea) who was sporting the team’s regular kit and the only rainbow in sight was on his helment.
Riders warming up included the Americans Kaitlin Antonneau, Mereidth Miller, Amy Dombroski, Jamey Driscoll, Jeremy Powers, Tim Johnson, Cody Kaiser, Jerome Townsend, Zach McDonald, U23 US Champion Danny Summerhill, Bjorn Fox and Drew Dillman and the Canadians Derrick St. John, Natasha Elliott and Craig Richey. Also seen on course were French Champion Francis Mourey and the French team, Stybar and Kevin Pauwels.
