The Jamis/Sutter Home Pro Cycling Team is ready to ride for 2011. Jamis/Sutter Home has retained its core squad, led by NRC Champion Luis Amaran, and added new criterium and climbing talent.
As previously announced, Amaran, brothers Alejandro and Anibal Borrajo, Tyler Wren, and Jamey Driscoll have re-signed for the 2011 season. Also returning to race in Jamis/Sutter Home colors are Andy Guptill, Nick Frey, Ignacio Pereyra, Jackie Simes, and Tucker Brown.
New riders for 2011 include Fernando Antogna, Eric Shildge, and Bradley Ghrig. Antogna, a native of Argentina, holds four national championship titles in track events. Echoing the sentiments he expressed when recruiting current NRC Champion Luis Amaran for his North American debut in 2008, Directeur Sportif Sebastian Alexandre said, “I am very happy and have big expectations for Fernando.” He added, “Fernando is one of the best Argentinean riders and his track background will be an asset in criteriums and short time trials.”
“Eric will give us additional speed in criteriums,” Alexandre continued. “Bradley will be a great addition for hilly events.”
As in previous years, Jamis/Sutter Home will open the new season at the Tour de San Luis in Argentina in January. Based on the team’s strong results at last month’s Tour do Brasil, Alexandre is optimistic for a strong GC finish. “Between Luis and Fernando who have both won stages at San Luis and the Borrrajo brothers, we will be bringing a formidable squad.” Alexandre said he expects to add more international events to the team’s racing calendar, which will be announced shortly.
