Record Participation Prompts MABRAcross Race Day Schedule Change

There is no disputing it, the MABRAcross series is bigger and better than ever. So big, in fact, that the series is making a minor change to its race day schedule to accommodate everybody that wants to participate.

Starting October 24 with DCCX, MABRAcross series race #5, the Masters 55+ category will begin its race one minute after the noontime Masters 1/2/3 field. Previously, the Masters 55+ field started at 10:01 a.m. and shared the course with the Masters 3/4 35+/45+ fields. The move to noon not only allows the 55+ guys to grab a couple extra hours of sleep on race day but also allows for more 3/4 masters racers to join in the fun.

In other MABRAcross news, Urban Cross has been canceled because of demolition work scheduled to start on the grounds of the Ix factory in Charlottesville, Virginia. Urban Cross’ cancellation will not affect the Verge Sport Leaders Jersey competition, which is based on your best eight results.

Although the MABRAcross series will not be replacing the November 14 race with another event, it does not mean that Mid-Atlantic racers will be left without ‘cross races to attend that weekend. A Blue Ridge double weekend can be had with Luray Caverns CX moving its date to take the November 14 slot previously held by Urban Cross. And another new race, 540 Cyclocross at Vint Hill takes place the day before on November 13.
