As an amuse-gueule before the main event, the Grand Prix Cycliste ProTour Quebec, tomorrow, 16 Canadian cyclists battled in sprints, along the 1-km course in the heart of Old Quebec, starting at the historical Chateau Frontenac and ending at the footsteps of the famous Grande Allée. The riders went off in waves of 4 with the first 2 of each heat moving on to the next round.
After a cloudy day, the skies opened up on the riders but that didn’t stop fans from enjoying the show, nor did it stop the riders from giving their all.
The winner was Stéphane Cossette, a young track cyclist from Spidertech p/b Planet Energy. He beat Rémi Pelletier-Roy and Dominique Rollin (Cervelo) in the final heat with his teammate Martin Gilbert taking 4th.
