On a beautiful Northern California evening, Cal Giant/Specialized presented their 2010-11 Cyclocross team to a very enthusiastic crowd of fans and friends at Spokesman Bicycles in Santa Cruz. Team Director Anthony Gallino introduced each rider and Specialized representatives Matt Jespersen and Andrew Frasca talked about the Team issue SRAM Powered S-works Carbon Crux and Alloy Crux that will be ridden this year by the squad.

The 2010-11 team will be Jesse Anthony (Beverly, MA), Jeremy Ferguson (Sacramento, CA), Cody Kaiser (El Dorado Hills, CA), Meredith Miller (Fort Collins, CO), Justin Robinson (Santa Cruz, CA), Teal Stetson-Lee (Durango, CO), and Nick Weighall (Mill Creek, WA)
“The season will kick off for all of us at CrossVegas,” stated Miller. “From CrossVegas we will go straight to Madison. We will be doing the GP series, Providence, Boulder Cup. Gloucester, and of course Nationals, plus a couple of World Cups here and there. I would love to be going back to World’s again.”
When asked about Worlds coming to the US in 2013, Miller responded, “I am seeing 2013 as my target. I have only been in XC for two years, but have had some success. I feel in another 3 years I can hopefully be fighting for a podium shot at Worlds. Since 2013 will be the first time Worlds will be held outside of Europe, and for it to be in Lousiville, KY, this is huge. I would love to be at Worlds supporting all of the people who have worked so hard to bring the event to the US.”
Miller, the 2009 US Road Champion, finished 2nd at US National Cyclocross Championships and was the top American finisher at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Tabor, Czech Republic.
New to the team this year are Jesse Anthony and Teal Stetson-Lee, who joins the team as the current Women’s Collegiate National Champion.
“I am very excited to be part of the Cal Giant Team this year and consider this a great opportunity in my career to join a program that is so well organized and supported,” commented Anthony. Anthony is a 7-time junior and U-23 national cyclocross champion. He is also a 3-time U-23 USGP champion.
High expectations are also placed on Kaiser who won five of the eight USGP Jr 17/18 races in 2009 before claiming the National title. Kaiser will be competing in the U23 Elite men category this season with Ferguson.
The 2010 team will compete in USGP and select UCI races in both the United States and Europe. Throughout the upcoming Cross season team members will also be selected to compete in regional events in California, Washington, Colorado and the New England area.
