Two stage wins and the overall victory at the Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove propelled Jonathan Cantwell to fifth place in the individual standings and his squad, Fly V Australia, to the top of the team standings in the USA Cycling NRC standings.
Luis Amaran (Jamis/Sutter Home) widened his overall lead over Rory Sutherland (UnitedHealthcare) to 268 points. David Veilleux (Kelly Benefit Strategies) jumped to third place, also on the strength of his results at Elk Grove, with two second place finishes in the stages and second overall. Ben Jacques-Maynes (BISSELL) moved up one spot to fourth.
The men team standings continue to be tight, with Fly V Australia now leading with 16 points on Jamis/Sutter Home and 50 points on UnitedHealthcare.
Since the Tour of Elk Grove did not count toward the women’s NRC overall standings, they remain unchanged. Cath Cheatley (Colavita/Baci p/b Cooking Light) leads Alison Powers (Team Vera Bradley Foundation) by 150 points, while Mara Abbott (Peanut Butter & Co. TWENTY12) stands third. In the women’s team competition, Cheatley’s squad holds a 27-point advantage over Powers’ team, with TIBCO/To The Top in third.

so whatever happened to Team Type 1? Seems like last year we were hearing about them at every race and now they’re MIA.
