The Kelly Benefit Strategies Pro Cycling Team announced its roster for the 2010 Amgen Tour of California. Ryan Anderson, Jesse Anthony, Zach Bell, Alex Candelario, Reid Mumford, Neil Shirley, David Veilleux and Scott Zwizanski will represent the team at this year’s race.
“This roster is our strongest yet and we have made huge sacrifices to prepare our riders for the Amgen Tour of California by traveling around the world to participate in some very long and difficult races,” said Jonas Carney, Team Director. “The Amgen Tour of California is a great opportunity to compete against the best in the world and our riders are extremely motivated to have a strong impact on this race.”
So far this season the team has raced in various countries in Asia, South America and Europe in preparation for the Tour of California. Because of this, the team had to forgo domestic events and NRC points in order to properly prepare.
Leading time trials for the team will be Scott Zwizanski. Carney says Zwizanski is arguably the fastest time trialist riding for a non ProTour team. He was second at the 2010 USPRO Time Trial Championships. Reid Mumford, Zach Bell, David Veilleux and Ryan Anderson are also very strong in the race against the clock.
Alex Candelario has been a top five finisher in sprints at the Tour of California in the past. Carney also expects Zach Bell and David Veilleux to be strong in the tough stages that finish in a sprint.
Neil Shirley who placed 4th at this year’s Tour of Thailand and Jesse Anthony who placed 2nd at this year’s Tour de Korea will lead the team in the mountains.
