We did our first race in Taiwan and not having radios didn’t really seem to effect the outcome of the race at all. The breaks still came back in the last 5km. I was in one that got caught with 1km to go. The real bad is when you don’t know your riders flat and they are on the side of the rode in a foreign country without a wheel. or when your leader gets a flat in the first 1km and everyone is up front covering moves. It didn’t really seem to create exciting racing, but more or less chaos racing.

We had an awful time without radios at the Tour de Taiwan and complained directly to Pat McQuaid, who was in attendance. Several times the radio tour communications were out, rendering the team clueless as to the goings on. Also, driving cars to and from the riders in the field proved a needless danger for all. The ban is just dumb.
