Cross Standings update: USAC, MAC and NECCS
Posted on 11. Nov, 2009 by lyne in news
Well, this is easy to do on the Elite Women’s side as Maureen Bruno-Roy (MM Racing p/b Seven Cycles) leads the MAC and NECCS series and the USA Cycling Cross NRC. On the men’s side, Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com teammates Jamey Driscoll and Jeremy Powers are tied in the USA Cycling rankings, Dan Timmerman (Richard Sachs-RGM) has a slim lead in the NECCS and Valentin Scherz tops MAC.
Two events on the 2009/2010 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Racing Calendar were held last weekend: Rounds one and two of the Cycle-Smart International in Northampton, Mass. on November 7 and 8. It was a sweep for Mary McConneloug (Kenda/Seven/NoTubes) in the elite women’s races and for Cannondale/Cyclocrossworld.com in the Men’s Elite with Jeremy Powers taking the win on Saturday and Jamey Driscoll on Sunday.
With 28 of the 42 events completed, Bruno-Roy still leads the women’s standings with 214 points. Laura Van Gilder (C3/Athletes) has moved up to second spot. McConneloug is now in fourth spot followed by Canadian Natasha Elliott (Garneau-Club Chaussure).
On the men’s side, Driscoll with his win and second place on Saturday is now tied with Powers in the number-one spot, each with 324 points. In third spot, is their teammate Tim Johnson. Dan Timmerman (Richard Sachs-RGM) has moved into the top 5.

Coming up next weekend are rounds one and two of the USGP of Cyclocross Mercer Cup, on November 14 and 15 in West Windsor, N.J.
The Cycle-Smart International races also were rounds 9 and 10 of the Verge New England Championship Cyclo-Cross Series. After 10 rounds completed, Bruno-Roy has another tight race on her hands, with Elliott at 19 points behind. In the Men’s Elite category, Timmerman has a strong lead of 113 points on Driscoll. Another battle in the U23 category with Luke Keough (Champion Systems) in the lead with 35 points on Jerome Townsend.

The series continues with the Bay State Cyclocross I & II on November 28, 29 in Sterling MA.
It’s an incredibly tight standings in the Elite Men’s and Women’s division of the MAC Cyclocross series after seven rounds completed. Following Saturday’s Fair Hill Maryland race, Valentin Scherz (Pro Cycles-Scott-Newwork) has a lead of only 12 points on second-place Adam Myerson (Cycle-Smart) and only 25 points on Wes Schempt.
Bruno-Roy has two C3/Athletes breathing down her neck, with Laura Van Gilder at 10 points back and Dee Dee Winfield at 20 points down.
Following Saturday’s Fair Hill Maryland race, Valentin Scherz (Pro Cycles-Scott-Newwork) and Bruno-Roy lead the incredibly tight standings in the Elite Men’s and Women’s division of the MAC Cyclocross series. Scherz also leads the U23 Men’s division.
In the Elite Masters, Mike Yozell has what appears to be a comfortable lead, but he is the only one of the division’s leading racers to have a full seven scores under MAC’s the best 7-of-10 scoring system, making it likely that the MAC Elite Masters will tighten up considerably following the two days of the Whitmore’s Landscaping Super Cross Cup on November 21 and 22.
