There were 4 events on the 2009/2010 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Racing Calendar held last weekend: the Blue Sky Velo Cup and Beacon Cross on October 31 and the Boulder Cup and Cat and Kitten Cross-HPCX on November 1.
Katie Compton (Planet Bike) and Tim Johnson (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) grabbed back-to-back victories in the two Colorado races which moved them up in the standings.
On the east coast, Mary McConneloug (Seven) and Nick Weighall (California Giant-Specialized) won the elite contests at Beacon Cross in Bridgeton, N.J. Valentin Scherz (Pro Cycles-Scott-Newwork) and Maureen Bruno-Roy (MM Racing p/b Seven Cycles) then won the elite races at the HPCX in Jamesburg, N.J.
No changes to the USA Cycling Cross Standings, as Jeremy Powers (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com) still tops the elite men’s standings with 294 points trailed by his teammates Jamey Driscoll and Johnson who jumped up to the third spot.
Bruno-Roy still leads the women’s standings with 200 points. A close second is Compton but the current US Champ will not be racing any further US races as she is now focusing on her European campaign (well except for Nationals). Dave Hackworthy (Ridley) leads the U23 category.

On tap for next weekend are the Cycle-Smart Internationals I and II in Northampton, Mass.
His two wins in Colorado, added to his two previous wins in Gloucester and Toronto, propelled Johnson into the NACT lead. With only two more races left, Johnson will look to build his 71 point lead over teammate Powers. Powers, meanwhile is battling it out with the third member of the team, Driscoll and the two are separated by only 5 points. The final battles for podium position and prize money will be played out in Southampton, New York at the Whitmore Landscaping Super Cup November 21 and 22.
Planet Bike’s Jonathan Page sits in fourth followed by BISSELL’s Andy jacques-Maynes who missed the last races as he is fighting the H1N1 virus.
Compton’s entrance into the series put her into fourth place overall, though Natasha Elliott (Louis Garneau) still leads the women with her four wins. Sue Butler (Monavie-Cannondale) missed the Colorado weekend and holds onto second, though nearly 100 points behind Elliott. Mountain Biker Extraordinaire Alison Dunlap (Luna Chix) made another NACT appearance and her two third place finishes in Colorado moved her to third overall. Amy Dombroski put in good showing to move into fifth behind Compton.
