Zirbel and Powers lead NRC Standings

After a third-place overall finish and a stage win at Fitchburg Longsjo Classic, Tom Zirbel (BISSELL) takes over the NRC overall men’s standings lead with 14 of 25 men’s events complete, moving from 3rd place last week to the top spot. Lucas Sebastian Haedo (Colavita/Sutter Home) drops down to second spot only 17 points down.
Alison Powers (Team Type I) still has a commanding lead in the women’s individual standings with 13 of the 19 women’s events completed, with Kristin Armstrong (Cervelo TestTeam) holding to second spot.
No changes in the team standings as Colavita-Sutter Home p/b Cooking Light leads the men’s team standings while Team Type I remained in the top spot on the women’s side.

Complete results available at USACycling.org. The next event on the 2009 NRC for the men is the Boise Twilight Criterium on July 18 in Boise, Idaho, followed by the Cascade Cycling Classic on July 22-26 for both the men and women.
