“We had a slow start,” stated Cromwell, “but with just over two laps to go the TIBCO riders started to tighten up. Right after the feed zone I jumped on a TIBCO wheel. We were together for one lap but after the first climb I rode ahead and just started to time trial to the finish. I knew there was a group of four behind me. I looked back to see if I could give it a go….I did not see anyone…so it was good. I knew that I could not sit up because Cath (Cheatley- Colavita/Sutter Home) and Jo (Kiesanowski-TeamTIBCO) are good finishers. It was a little on the windy side, but really a perfect day.”

“We had a number of cards to play today,” added teammate and third place winner Catherine Cheatley. “We really did not have a set plan. We tried to make the best of the opportunities. There were a few attacks from TIBCO and ourselves….that split the group up…but we were able to capitalize. We had a really good team effort today.”

Colavita/Sutter Home riders also won fourth and fifth place, giving the team four of the top five spots. The podium was broken up with Jo Kiesanowski’s (Team TIBCO) second place finish.

“At the end the best I could do was to get second,” commented Kiesanowski, “as it was just me against two Colavita riders. They were attacking me and tried to attack them and finally it was just me and one Colavita rider but Tiffany rode away and I just didn’t have the legs to go with her. She was strong up the climb. It was tough course. I am disappointed, but I did try my best.”

The last road race at the Sea Otter Classic is the tough  SRAM Circuit Race held on the Laguna Seca Raceway which includes a challenging 300-foot climb and the descent down the world-famous Corkscrew. The women start at 10:15am for a 50-mile race.
