After 4 hours, thirty-eight minutes and nineteen seconds, the 110-mile (177 km) US Pro Road Race came down to two thousandths of a second (0.002) or 2 milli-seconds. That is the margin by which Tyler Hamilton (Rock Racing) beat Blake Caldwell (Garmin-Chipotle presented by H3O).
For comparison-sake, on average an eye blink takes approximately 300 to 400 milliseconds, that’s 3 to 4 thousandths of a second. In the 100m butterfly, Michael Phelps won his seventh Olympic Gold Medal by one hundredth of a second, or 10 milli-seconds.
