First stage of Tour du Grand Montréal goes to Regina Schleicher

For the second year in a row, Regina Schleicher (Équipe Nurnberger Versicherung) won the first stage of the Tour du Grand Montréal by taking the bunch sprint after 1 hour 59 minutes 41 seconds and 85.5 km in the saddle, followed by Oenone Wood (High Road) and Rochelle Gilmore (Menikini Selle Italia Master Colors). The organizers modified the stage by removing a lot of the technical turns, but the same top 2 on the podium.

For picking up the most points through the three intermediate sprint competitions, Suzanne De Goede (Équipe Nurnberger) gets the sprinters jersey.

With 2 laps to go, Canadian Clara Hughes (Specialized Carrefour) crashed but got back on her bike and finished with road rash all over the right side of her body.
